New Beginnings

There is nothing quite like starting a New Year with two dirty big cranes and a massive dozer. It was a pretty spectacular sight and it certainly got the adrenaline pumping on site when it was all going on.

I’m hoping those two cranes, and the ease with which they hauled that 70 odd tonnes of kit, are a bit of a sign of things to come for 2019.

We all have a lot of heavy lifting to do this year – both literally and figuratively speaking – but with the steady flow of good news out of the Bowen Basin and, in fact, the mining sector country-wide – we are well-placed to make the most of every opportunity.

There’s a bit of a new approach going on with Sirus Mining as well, at the moment. We kick started a few new initiatives and business approaches in the latter part of last year and this year, we have hit the ground running, so to speak.

In the theme of heavy lifting, our new Hyundai Forklifts Mackay dealership is now up and running and if the flow of customer traffic is anything to go by, we are meeting demand and filling a pretty sizable gap in the Mackay – and even broader North and Central Queensland – markets.

Hyundai Forklifts – as those of you in the know would be aware – are among the world leaders in this industry. They are right up there with the likes of Toyota and Crown, but even on a good day, Hyundai will beat its competitors, hands down, on pricing.

We are stoked to have the dealership in Mackay – and not only that, we have a crew of dedicated staff, a show space and a workshop facility so everything from sale to after-sale service and advice is done right here. We stand alone in that capability – and we have worked hard to make sure that we can deliver that highest level of service to our Mackay region customers.

There is no part of materials handling or logistics that is inexpensive. And in an operational sense, there is no good in cutting corners – especially when it comes to safety. Marry those two things up, and add to the fact you need to be able to have access to fast and reliable service – here in Mackay with a quick turnaround – and you can soon see why we have developed this dealership.

I’m not about putting the other brands and makes of this gear down. They all have their virtues and people have their favourites. That’s fine.

But Sirus Mining and the team behind it has a business ethic steadfastly anchored to a standard of excellence – both in service and the delivery of practical solutions for our clients. So, it stands to reason that we are going to make that a core value of the Hyundai Forklifts Mackay dealership.

Enough of that for now though. We have a workshop and yard full of kit to get cracking on, and a year ahead of us already screaming opportunities for us.

The best thing is, we know we are not alone in that last point. 2019 dawned in a bit of a haze for me – as it did for a great many people I suspect – and so it should!!

But I could still see there was plenty of good things ahead! Have a good year. Make the most of the good things coming your way.
